Extension faqs

Absolutely!

Our hair extensions are made from 100% human remy hair, you can treat them just like your own hair!

They are crafted to the highest standards, ensuring they stay silky smooth whether you choose to curl or straighten them. However, we always recommend applying a heat protectant and using a low-temperature styling tool MAX 180°C when styling your extensions!

Remember, excessive heat or frequent use of hot tools may impact the durability, longevity and colour of your extensions. Always use Heat Protectant

Absolutely! You have the flexibility to tone or darken the extensions, but we strongly advise against lightning them. To guarantee the desired outcome, we suggest conducting a colour test on a small section first. We only endorse the use of semi-permanent dyes since they are significantly kinder to the hair extensions.

Given the highly porous nature of hair extensions, we advise using a more diluted colour formulation compared to that for natural hair, to accommodate their increased colour absorption tendency.

Yes, but proceed with caution, lovely!

First things first—steer clear of products with sulphates, protein, or excessive alcohol. Now, about that purple shampoo: while it's fab for keeping brassiness at bay, uneven application can make your extensions look patchy and over-toned. Remember, your extensions are super porous, so a little goes a very long way!

We recommend using the Evo Fabuloso Platinum Blonde range sparingly for best results. And just a heads-up: we can't offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements for extensions that have been altered. So, treat them with care.

The lifespan of hair extensions can differ significantly from one individual to another, influenced by a variety of factors.

These include the types of products applied to both the hair and body, the care and maintenance routine adopted, environmental conditions, water quality, and the frequency and temperature of heat styling, among others.

From our experience our extensions last for a minimum of 12 months. The longevity also depends on the application method used and the extent of care taken by the client.

While it's true that caring for extensions requires a bit of extra effort since you're managing more hair, the process isn't overly complex, especially when you use the right products. Since the extensions are made of human hair, you can style them as usual, using straighteners and curling tools, provided you protect the hair with a heat protectant first.

Key maintenance tips include:

  • Utilise salon-grade products recommended by the salon.
  • Avoid products that contain proteins, keratin, and sulfates.
  • Focus shampoo application on your natural hair, avoiding the extensions.
  • Incorporate a deep conditioning treatment into your weekly routine.
  • Tie your hair in a low braid before going to bed to prevent tangling.
  • Use the advised extension brush to keep your hair smooth and free of tangles.
  • Adhere to scheduled maintenance appointments to prevent damage to your natural hair.

The Importance of Proper Technique

The way you dry and style your hair extensions is crucial. Incorrect methods can quickly lead to their deterioration, causing issues like split ends and severe dryness.

To protect your extensions start by applying thermal protection and leave-in products. Let your hair extensions air dry until they're just damp, then gently brush them. When using a blow dryer, opt for a low heat setting and direct the airflow downward to minimize frizz. Pair this with a heat-resistant brush, moving it along with the dryer to smooth out your hair even more effectively. Remember, repeatedly going over the same section or concentrating the heat in one area can cause damage.

To safeguard your extensions against heat damage, always use heat protects or serums and oils that double as a serum and heat protectant.

Ensuring your hair is installed correctly by a qualified professional who has experience with wefts and tapes is imperative.

The potential for extensions to cause damage largely depends on your maintenance at home. With regular brushing and proper treatment, extensions should not inflict any extra harm on your hair!

Brush daily, low braid or ponytail to sleep. Use a silk pillowcase or bonnet.

Use a treatment barrier before swimming such as an oil, masque or conditioner.

To avoid unwanted tangling or matting, we suggest plaiting or braiding your hair. Applying heat protectant is a wise choice, especially if you anticipate sun exposure, since UV rays can harm your hair just as much as heat styling tools. Additionally, it's strongly recommended to wash and rinse your hair with fresh water as soon as possible to prevent it from becoming dry.

Depending on your natural hair growth and how you maintain your extensions:

Wefts - Every 5-8 weeks

Tapes - Every 5-8 weeks

Tanning products, moisturisers, and sunscreens or oils are known for their potential to stain clothing. Considering their propensity for staining, it's easy to see how they might also affect chemically treated hair extensions. Extensions of all colours are highly prone to discoloration when exposed to these products, leading to blonde tones turning orange, pink, or a mix of both, while darker shades may lighten, particularly through the mid-lengths and ends.

The discoloration of extensions is caused by a chemical reaction. Sunscreen, oils, moisturisers, or tanning products, once absorbed by the hair and then subjected to UV light, trigger a breakdown of the hair's cells. These cells then seek out electrons to form new structures. Upon contact with water—whether from showers, pools, or the ocean—minerals like copper, iron, and magnesium in the water bond with the hair cells, resulting in discoloration.

It's important to remember that these aren't the sole causes of extension discoloration. Factors such as chlorine, salt water, and sun exposure can also impact the quality and colour of your hair extensions. We advise exercising caution while swimming to maintain the integrity and shade of your extensions.
